Strawberry Lemonade

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Cherry Iced Tea, Strawberry Lemonade? It sounds like summer around here!  Another scorcher of a day has made me thirsty.  This strawberry lemonade is a snap to make and can be enjoyed either with vodka or without or still or bubbly.  I went sans vodka and still today, in this heat, the vodka would knock me out!  I am playing around with another editing program that will allow me to insert text into my photos more easily.  I am hoping to add a little feature for the summer concerning what to do with the veggies you may get in your CSA, and want to insert text labeling the veggies into the photos (a suggestion of my brilliant sister).  I have not figured out this other editing program yet, but hopefully will soon, so bear with me.

So here is the exact same photo except processed with a different program and with text.  I like the text, but the photo looks blurrier.  Clearly, I need to take a photography class.  Anyway, homemade lemonade is a rare treat, but it should not be as rare as it is, cause it really is pretty easy to make.  Of course this must have a thousand calories... but who cares!
Strawberry Lemonade
Ingredients
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 and 1/2 cups water, seperated (1 and 1/2 cups and 3 cups)
1 cup sugar
1 pint strawberries, hulled
Optional: Vodka, soda water  (I leave it to you to decide how much vodka you would want.  I would put a shot per cup and half of lemonade.)

Directions:
  1. Combine the 1 cup sugar and 1 and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over low heat, stir until sugar dissolves and cool.
  2. Put the strawberries in a blender and puree.
  3. Combine the lemon juice, strawberries and sugar syrup in a pitcher and stir to combine.
  4. Add the three cups or more of water, depending on your taste.
  5. Chill, literally and spiritually.

i love making this. I also freeze some into ice cubes and use it when I make another batch the next day.

I made a blackberry version and a peach version last week. Mmmm lemonade! I love the fruit-flavored ones way more than just the plain kind.
