Hermit Cookies, adapted from epicurious.com
Ingredients (makes 20 small cookies, fewer big ones)
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons raisins or currants
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
Thank you for posting this! It's hard to come by a hermit recipe, let alone one that's spot on. I made this, mentioned I made it and most people didn't know what hermits were. But I gave some hermits out and people loved them. I ate them and was instantly reminded of a bakery I went to as a kid where I bought hermits. It's an awesome recipe and so easy to make, thank you so much!
