Also add cinnamon to your nut mixture, tastes fantastic!Hendnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3718782265469177171.post-59566183884948232042011-11-14T14:08:31.403-05:002011-11-14T14:08:31.403-05:00Thank you for your comment Hend and the informatio...Thank you for your comment Hend and the information! I will definitely try it in pie form, I have had a wonderful dessert like this in a Turkish restaurant with some kind of cheese in the middle and want to try that, though I have not been able to figure out what kind of cheese (that is available here in the states) I should use.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12580102201735611650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3718782265469177171.post-29441628058556295642011-11-14T08:19:39.890-05:002011-11-14T08:19:39.890-05:00FYI (from an Egyptian) this pastry is called Konaf...FYI (from an Egyptian) this pastry is called Konafa/Knefeh (varies depending on the dialect) in Arabic (I believe you're using the Greek term) and is known as such throughout the Arab world/ Middle East. Also a little tip: pistachios and hazelnuts go really well with this recipe, and Konafa is usually made using them. I'd also use ghee (or perhaps lard?) rather than butter, it gives it that authentic "oriental" taste. you could also bake it like a pie in the oven: one layer konafa moistened by your "fat" product, one layer nuts or sour cream (I know!) and then another layer of Konafa. Bake 'til crispy golden/reddish brown then dress with the syrup. I hope you'll forgive my little intrusion :-)Hendnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3718782265469177171.post-38312545040252632062011-11-10T19:27:27.290-05:002011-11-10T19:27:27.290-05:00These look amazing and so fun!
